Main activities of the G.A.(Political) Department

• Extension of State hospitalities to VIPs/VVIPs (including foreign dignitaries) during their visit to Tripura and declaration of State Guest and Government Guest. 

• Repatriation of foreign nationals (those who were detained in Tripura and completed their term of imprisonment) to their native land. Bringing back Indian nationals (from Tripura) who are stranded in foreign countries as well as bringing back dead bodies of Indian nationals (from Tripura) from foreign coutries.

• As a part of the Union of India, the State Government in the GA (Political) department is maintaining a friendly relation between India-Bangladesh in all aspects through coordination with the Office of the High Commission of Bangladesh, Agartala.

• Matters relating to Inter-State Council.

• Sending Recommendation for Padma Awards. 

• The department is acting upon for the interest of the Freedom Fighters and their depended family members including payment of monthly pension to Freedom fighter pensioners and Reang Freedom fighters.

• The benefits of the Ex-Servicemen and their dependent family members are also looked after by the GA (Political) Department through the Directorate of Sainik Welfare. 

• The various National Days eg. Independence Day, Republic Day, Martyr’s Day, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas etc. and Statehood Day of Tripura are observed in the State under the administrative control of the GA (Political) Department through the concerned DMs.

• The Department also looks after the urgent and time bound work like actions to be taken on death of High dignitaries.

• Obtaining Political Clearance from Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India in connection with foreign tour of the Ministers and High Officials.

• The matter relating to Raj Bhavan i.e. Oath taking of the Governor is also done by this department.

• Authentication of documents to be used in abroad.
